Bordetella Pertussis FHA ELISA

Bordetella pertussis, small coccoid gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria, is the causative agent of pertussis, a respiratory disease. The bacteria are transmitted by droplet infection from invidiual to individual. The disease mainly affects children in the age of 0-4 years. It shows a high lethality in newsborns.

The Immunolab Bordetella pertussis FHA IgG/IgA ELISA is a quantitative and qualitative tests for the detection of human antibodies to Bordetella FHA in serum and plasma. The main intended use of the test are both diagnostics of Bordetella pertussis infections and support of epidemiological investigations.

FHA is a 220 kDa sized surface antigen of Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis which agglutinates erythrocytes in vitro. It is a component of numerous vaccines. For this reason a simple, fast, sensitive and according to an international reference preparation calibrated ELISA test kit for the detection of Bordetella FHA IgG/IgA-antibodies was developed.
