Bordetella pertussis Toxin ELISA

Bordetella Pertussis, small coccoid gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria, is the causative agent of pertussis, a respiratory disease. The bacteria are transmitted by droplet infection from invidiual to individual. The disease mainly affects children in the age of 0-4 years. It shows a high lethality in newsborns.

The Immunolab Bordetella pertussis Toxin IgG/IgA ELISA is a quantitative and qualitative tests for the detection of human antibodies to Bordetella pertussis Toxin in serum and plasma. The main intended use of the test are both diagnostics of Bordetella pertussis infections and support of epidemiological investigations.

Pertussis Toxin (PT) is highly specific in contrast to other Bordetella genus proteins. PT is also a component of numerous vaccines. For this reason a simple, quick and sensitive ELISA was developed for the detection of IgG/IgA antibodies to Bordetella pertussis Toxin. This test is standardized according to an international reference preparation.
