Yersinia enterocolitica ELISA

Yersinia enterocolitica belongs to the family of enterobacteriacea. Y. enterocolitica occurs facultatively intracellular as well as the other species (Y. pestis, Y. pseudotuberculosis, Y. ruckeri) with medical relevance. It leads to the characteristic inflammation of lymphatic tissue during the disease course. Yersinia enterocolitica is ingested orally. It causes enteritis, diarrhea, pseudoappendicitis as well as hemopathies and sepsis in case of depressed immune system. Reactive arthritis, erythema nodosum as well as further rheumatoid diseases can occur as post-infectious sequela.

The Immunolab Yersinia enterocolitica IgG/IgM/IgA ELISAs are quantitative and qualitative tests for the detection of human antibodies to Y. enterocolitica in serum and plasma. The ELISA shows a high sensitivity and enables the differentiation of IgG, IgA and IgM antibodies. This allows distinguishing between acute and previous gastrointestinal infections. Same is valid for reactive arthritis.
